Kathmandu, Feb. 11: Nepal has defeated host India 2-1 in the match held under the Hero women's Gold Cup in Bhubaneshwar, India.
In the match held this evening at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Nepal scored two goals in the opening seven minutes, with Sabitra Bhandari scoring both in the 5th and 7th minute of the first half.
India pulled back one in the 83rd minute of the match but was not enough to stop Nepal from a deserved win. Nepal has bounced back after being thrashed 3-0 by Myanmar in the opening match.
It was a must win for Nepal and the players delivered at the right time. Nepal will now play Iran to decide for a place in the final to be held on February 15. Of the four teams in the competition, two will qualify for the final.
India and Nepal both have 3 points each while Myanmar is already through to the final with 6 points after two consecutive wins. In the other match, Myanmar defeated Iran 2-0. Iran is yet to secure a point after losing to India in the first match by 1-0. Myanmar will now face the hosts in the last league match. RSS
