Kathmandu, Mar. 9: The main opposition Nepali Congress will not field candidate for the post of a Speaker of the House of Representatives, said NC Spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma.
Abstaining from running for the coveted post means to help pick a new Speaker unanimously, he said.
Earlier today, CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara filed his candidacy for the post. His candidacy has been proposed by CPN (UML) leader and former Speaker Subash Chandra Nembang, and seconded by the Maoist Centre leader Dev Gurung. RSS
