Police informed that they have arrested 316 youths on the charge of smearing colors on others against their will, hooliganism and engaging in scuffles.
According to SP Airee, the Metro Control is coordinating with three ranges in three districts of Kathmandu Valley and traffic division within the Valley. He also informed that 1200 police personnel were deployed on the streets to deal with Holi-related traffic rule violations.
Foreign tourists also celebrated the Holi festival in Kathmandu. Corinne Redfern, a freelance journalist who is in Kathmandu recently, took to twitter to express her anger at Holi revelers trying to molest her.
“Walking down streets and being targeted and then grabbed, repeatedly, and in public, by huge groups of men and boys,” she twitted. “The worst thing about this is how many, many women are getting in touch to say that they never leave the house during Holi because of this.”
However, police have so far not received any complaints of misbehavior.(MR)
