Chitwan, Jan. 4: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' on Thursday reiterated that the unification of the CPN (UML) and Maoist Centre would take place before the formation of the new government, as ongoing consultations in this regard, he said, were taking positive steps.
"We (Maoist Centre) want this unification to conclude before the government formation as far as possible. KPji and I wanted to conclude the process two days back. However this could not happen due to ill health of KPji. It is getting late to give the final touch to the matter," he said, while speaking at a press conference organised jointly in the district by the district branches of Press Chautari Nepal and Press Centre Nepal.
Saying the new government formation would take place only after the National Assembly elections, he said there was no need to wait for the party unification until the government is formed.
Brushing off what the media is reporting 'negatively' about the party unification as unnecessary, he said, "The reports about 50-50 percent partnership in party leadership are mere rumours. Some friends spoke so and I asked them today not to speak unnecessarily about the unification. Serious discussions to this effect were on at the leadership level." RSS
