Jitpur, Kapilvastu, Feb. 2: An international wrestling championship has kicked off here since Thursday.
The three-day event titled 'Birat Aantarashtriya Kusti (Dangal) Pratiyogita' is organised by Suddhodhan rural municipality.
The wrestling competition is organised with the objective of promoting local wrestlers as well as expanding friendship between the wrestling players of Nepal and India, said Bhagirathi Yadav, president of the Pratiyogita organising committee.
Ten wrestlers competed on Thursday, the first day of the championship. Players from Nawalparasi, Pokhara and Kathmandu among other places of Nepal and from Gorakhpur, Banaras, Jhansi and cities in Madhya Pradesh of India are participating in the competition. RSS
