Nawalparasi, Feb. 9: A two-day international wrestling championship is to be held in Hakui of Ramgram municipality from coming February 19 to 20.
Around 300 wrestlers from Nepal and India are taking part in the competition, that will also feature women wrestling for the first time. The first, second and third winner of the tournament will win a cash prize of Rs. 175,000, 100,000 and 75,000 respectively.
The tournament is being organised at the initiative of the local sports enthusiasts with the objective of preserving this traditional sport, according to the tournament managing committee secretary Dhurva Chaudhary. The tournament is expected to cost around Rs. 500,000.
Ward no 15 and 16 of Ramgram municipality are also providing financial support to the tournament. Local organisations and industrialists are contributing to the event. Prizes for the tournament participants will be managed at the local level, adds Chaudhary. RSS
