KATHMANDU, July 30: B. P. Koirala Nepal-India Foundation held its 33rd Board Meeting on 28th July at Lumbini. The meeting was Co-chaired by Ambassador of India to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri and Ambassador of Nepal to India Deep Kumar Upadhyay. The Board Meeting reviewed the activities conducted by the Foundation’s Kathmandu and Delhi Secretariats over the past six months. Both sides presented details of activities undertaken in the fields of culture, literature, music, educational research and women and child development. The Board also formulated a plan of action for the next six months.
The B. P. Koirala Nepal-India Foundation, which is in its 26th year, has endeavoured to strengthen people-to-people ties between Nepal and India by identifying and fostering commonalities between the two countries. Regular exchanges between experts of the two countries have been organized by the Foundation.
In May 2017, the Kathmandu Secretariat of the B. P. Koirala Foundation organized a Theatre Festival with renowned Indian director Feisal Alkazi which enjoyed immense popularity amongst the Nepalese audience. Also hugely popular in the past couple of months were the various series of Kidmandu Programmes targeting development of young children. A Poemandu was organized in Pokhara in June, 2017 wherein, the literary community of Pokhara region got enthusiastically engaged in poetry recital sessions. As part of Yoga Day Celebrations, the Foundation also organized a Talk Show with famous Bollywood actress Ms. Manisha Koirala.
During the Board Meeting, the Foundation reiterated its commitment towards strengthening linkages between the people of Nepal and the people of India and fostering the shared heritage between the two nations.
