Damauli, Nov, 30: Repair and maintenance of around two dozen motorable bridges along the Pokhara – Kathmandu Prithvi Highway has started.
The bridges that had become worn-out and weak were in desperate need for maintenance. The bridges will be recoloured and undergo tightening of the loose bolts, necessary welding and placement of boards on both sides, according to Bridge Project Sector no 2 Engineer, Ramesh Subedi.
He added that the total cost of restoring the bridges will be around Rs 10 million. The longest bridge on the highway Madi river bridge (370 meters) along with Dangdung bridge, Huddi bridge, Andheri river bridge and Khanikhola bridge will be repaired.
The smaller bridges along Naubise – Pokhara road stretch are also being repaired. The repair and maintenance work will take almost three months. RSS
