Kathmandu, July 18:The plan to establish SAARC Handicraft Development Centre in Kathmandu is likely to become true. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to lay a foundation stone of the centre on July 22.
Aimed to develop and promote handicrafts of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), the Rs 270 million project funded by the Government of Nepal is located at Tripureshwor.
Construction target of the five-storey building is three years, and the new building will house a handicraft test laboratory, a handicraft exhibition hall, a handicraft design centre and a handicraft training centre. The government has released Rs 50 million for the project. RSS
