Uganda, July 25: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday while addressing Parliament of Uganda said that a Gandhi Heritage Centre would be built in order to pay homage to the Father of the Nation to remind everyone of Africa’s role in shaping his mission. Modi added that the centre would be built at Jinja, next to the statue of Gandhi.
PM Modi added that the centre would be a perfect tribute to Mahatma as we approached the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
PM Modi also spoke about the 10 principles which will guide India’s engagement with Africa stating that Africa will be at the top of India’s priorities.
Among the ten notable policies mentioned by PM Modi, some of them are- keeping India’s markets open so as to make trade easier, support Africa’s development through India’s digitalisation, improve delivery of public services, extend education and health, spread digital literacy, expand financial inclusion, mainstream the marginalised, strengthen mutual capabilities in combating terrorism and extremism.
PM Modi further added that India was proud to be Africa’s partner and would endeavour in achieving development for the continent. india.com
