Kathmandu, Jan. 2: Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ) welcomed the verdict of the Supreme Court ordering the government to formulate an act related to climate change.
The NEFEJ has also urged the government to be serious about the verdict so as to find ways to reduce climate change impact. All concerned authority should pay attention to the concerns of the judiciary relating to climate change and its impact, said a statement issued here on Wednesday by NEFEJ President Kosmos Bishwokarma.
A division bench of Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra and Justice Tej Bahadur KC had given the verdict in response to a writ petition filed by advocate Padam Bahadur Shrestha.
The apex court also directed for effective implementation of Climate Change Policy, 2067 until the act would be formulated and come into effect. RSS
