Kathmandu, Aug. 16: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba this morning called on President Bidya Devi Bhandari at the Shital Niwas.
On the occasion, President Bhandari expressed grief at the loss of lives and properties in the aftermath of the monsoon – triggered flooding and landslides, and drew the government's attention towards preventing the shortage of food supplies and medicines to hit the stricken areas.
According to information shared by Press Advisor Madhav Sharma, the President appealed for mobilization of the scout, national volunteers' corps, community based organizations including the private sector for effective rescue and relief operations.
President Bhandari pressed on formulating immediate and long – term planning for natural disaster management. She advised the PM on endorsing necessary options for alertness and prevention in course of natural calamities in future. RSS
