Nepal clinches nine gold in 6th South Asian Taekwondo Championships


Kathmandu, July 14: Nepal won total nine gold medals in the 6th South Asian and Open Taekwondo Championships underway at the Covered Hall in Tripureshwor in the Capital from July 13.
Under senior women's category below 55 kg, Sabina Lama defeated Pakistan's Ferista. Likewise, on senior women's category under 64 kg, Karishma Ghartimagar thrashed India's Bhedika Shah. Likewise, below 47 kg group, Rubika Khadka beat India's Bikanshree, and under 75 kg, Srijana Rai Bangladesh's Santona Rani.
Similarly, under 45 kg, Abina Rai defeated India's Pramika Sribas, while Kopila Syangtan India's Pranika Suryabamshi under 60 kg.
Towards junior women's category under 55 kg, Anisha Karki bagged gold, while in junior men's below 22 kg, Lakki Rai won the gold.
Total 600 athletes from Nepal, India, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Turkmenistan have participated in the Championships that will run until Sunday. RSSĀ
