Kathmandu, Sept. 5: The Election Commission has appealed to all the political parties, leaders and general people to enthusiastically take part in the filing of nominations for the upcoming election of the local levels being held on September 18 in Province No. 2. The candidacy filing is taking place Wednesday.
During a press meet organized by the EC at its office Tuesday, Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhee Prasad Yadav said, "The preparation for the September 18 local level elections in Province No 2 is over. I appeal to all including voters, general public, political parties and stakeholders to actively participate in the election process."
In Tarai districts within Province 2, a total of 2.6 million voters are eligible to vote.
There are a total of 136 local levels in the province (including one metropolitan city, three sub metropolitan cities, 73 municipalities and 59 rural municipalities).
A total of 6,627 representatives will be elected through the polls. Likewise, 31,500 employees that exclude security force will be deployed, while 3,578 polling stations within 2,166 polling centres have been managed for the polls being held in the third and fina phase. RSS
