Beni (Myagdi), Jan. 16: Around dozen wells, lakes and ponds have been buried due landslides and soil erosion in Bagarphant and Thulo Khabara community forests.
"The lakes used to have continued presence of water which made it easier for the animals and travellers to drink water from there," local Dek Bahadur Karki said, adding "The water in the lakes are drying up as it is getting gradually covered."
The community forests have Satipani, Rohote, Bhasbhase and Amani among other lakes. Most of the lakes have been buried and do not have water in them which is going to affect the ecosystem of the forests, Bagarphant Community Forest Consumer Group Chairman Dil Bahadur Ghimire warned. RSS
