Kathmandu, Jan. 16: Members of the National Assembly has laid emphasis on developing the Upper House as centre where question and answer on issues of national importance takes place.
Talking briefly to media persons after today’s meeting of the National Assembly at Federal Parliament Building, New Baneshwor, Chair of Legislation Committee, Parashuram Meghi Gurung, said that although the NA has been carrying out activities as per the constitution, some works are still remaining to make it further effective.
He said, “Comparatively, the committees under the NA are not effective. Question answer programme has to be started for making the NA and the full house more effective.”
Similarly, NA member Surendra Raj Pandey said that, “The NA should give its suggestion to the government on the basis of merit. But the NA is looking like a shadow of the government on some important issues.”
Likewise, another NA member Bimala Poudel said that it is the matter of concern of not addressing the national issues by bodies concerned, although discussion is held on some national issues in the NA. RSS
