Pokhara, July 6: The Province-4 Assembly meeting held today has endorsed the motion to name Province-4 as Gandaki.
The meeting endorsed the motion tabled by Province Assembly member Mayanath Adhikari and seconded by provincial parliamentarian Manibhadra Sharma Kandel, Gayatri Gurung and Krishna Thapa by majority.
Out of total 56 Province Assembly members present today, 54 voted in favour of naming the province as Gandaki while two stood against the motion. The Province-4 Assembly comprises total 50 members.
In favour of the motion, ruling party CPN, main opposition parfty Nepali Congress and Rastriya Janamorcha voted whereas parliamentarians representing Naya Shakti Party voted against the motion. RSS
