Kathmandu, Jan. 14: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Banskota has said that the government was and is never rigid in disseminating information.
Speaking at a programme organized by the National Information Commission here in the capital today, Minister Banskota, also government spokesperson, urged one and all to be clear that the government was not rigid regarding making its decisions and related information public.
He also said that the weekly press conference on Thursday was not only to release Cabinet decisions but also to share the government activities carried out in the past week.
Minister Banskota also said that the spokespersons of all Ministries attend the conference therefore any question related to any ministry could be asked in the conference. He also urged the media to disseminate news based on facts and evidence. Minister Banskota also opined for responsible media for accurate information.
Minister Banskota said that the right to information and privacy are related to each other therefore, RTI should be properly meant and informed.
Speaking at the same programme, chief information commissioner Krishna Hari Banskota briefed about the commission's four year activities and achievements. RSS
