NEW DELHI, Jan. 12: Chief of the Indian Army Staff General Bipin Rawat on Friday said India would not allow its territory to be invaded by anyone, and that China may be a powerful country but India was not a weak nation either.
The time had come for India to shift focus to its northern border. The country was capable of handling China’s assertiveness along the border, he told reporters in New Delhi.
Amid aggressive Chinese efforts to increase its influence in the region, the Army chief said India cannot allow its neighbours to drift away to China.
Referring to the United States' warnings to Pakistan on the latter's handling of terrorism, Gen. Rawat said India would have to wait and see its impact.
Terrorists are a disposable commodity in Pakistan and the Indian Army's approach was to ensure that Pakistan felt the pain, he said. TH
