Sinja (Jumla), Feb. 23: The Gamgadhi-Nagma section of the Karnali highway has remained obstructed for the past some one month due to deposition of snow on some stretches of the road in mountain passes.
Although efforts were made to remove the snow by using bulldozer and open the road for traffic, this has not been possible due to latest snowfall in the area few days back.
Chief District Officer of Mugu district, Umakanta Adhikari said the efforts to open the road were hampered by the latest spell of snowfall.
Shortage of daily supplies has been seen in Gamgadhi market due to the obstruction of transport. There is shortage of cooking gas and other consumables in the district headquarters.
The Kalakadha road that connects to Khatyad rural municipality is also obstructed due to snow deposition since the past one month.
A shortage of medicines has started to be seen in the local health posts in the rural municipality. The foot trail to the district headquarters from Khatyad through Rara and Jeude is also blocked due to snow. Around five feet thick snow has deposited on the road making travel almost impossible. RSS
