A-Division League: Machhindra, NRT play 5-5 draw in opening match of 12th round


Kathmandu, Dec. 31: The matches of 12th round under the ongoing Martyrs Memorial A-Division League kicked off today and Machhindra Club and New Road Team (NRT) vied in the opening match finishing in a 5-5 draw.
In the match held at the Satdobato-based ANFA ground, the teams shared the points. Machhindra's Bishal Rai alone scored two goals and Khamir Gilsan Kandanwa, Anil Gurung and Vassadia Diamonde contributed each goal to the team.
It was Diamonde who hit the goalpost in the third minute of the match taking the team to a lead initially. Bishal made the goal in the ninth and the 63th minute and in between this, Khamir registered one goal in his name in the 27th minute and Anil in the 29th minute of the match.
In the results of NRT, Ashok Thapa hit the net twice (within a brief interval) the 32nd and 34th minute and Sushil Lama in the additional time before the completion of first half and a foreign player in the 85th minute made one goal each.
Macchindra's Saheed Zbenga gifted one goal for the rival team through a suicide goal in the eighth minute of the match. NRT's Ashok Thapa won the title of the ' Man of The Match'. With today's match, Machhindra is in the 12th place of the league table with seven points and NRT is on the bottom with six points. RSS
