Kathmandu, Dec. 29: The Government is to renew labour permits for migrant workers from the province itself starting this Sunday. Labour permits were being renewed only from the capital so far.
The new provision is being made with the objective of facilitating services related to foreign employment. Accordingly, the Labour and Employment Office in province no. 2 and the same office in province no. 5 will begin providing labour permit and other related services from tomorrow, according to the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security.
The offices will start by renewing labour permits and monitoring the training and orientation provided by the licensed institutions. Also, they will be providing information and handlings grievances related to foreign employment, according to the Ministry spokesperson Dr Narayan Regmi.
Similar services will also begin from the remaining five provinces soon, as preparations for the same are in the final stage. As a result, the compulsion for service recipients to travel to Kathmandu will come to an end.
