Jumla, June 9: The Birat health post at Budhu village of Kanakasundari rural municipality-3 in Jumla district is without even the oral rehydration salt packets. The health post has run out of other basic medicines as well as the rural municipality has not supplied the medicines. "This is summer season and there is risk of diarrhea outbreak. But there is no medicine at the health post. Neither we get medicine nor we get to see the health assistants at the health post," Bin Budha, a local, narrated the situation. Assistant health worker at Birat health post, Govinda Bhandari, said the health post has run out of medicine stock and the rural municipality office has not supplied the medicines. He added that the rural municipality did not purchase and send the medicines in time. He said the health post does not have adequate stock of paracetamol tablets as well as it was supplied only 2,500 tablets to last for 11 months of the fiscal year 2018/19. Kanakasundari rural municipality-3 ward chairman Manbir Budha accepted that the local government has not been able to supply medicines in adequate quantity at present. He is also the local health post management committee chair. "We have not been able to purchase the medicines in time due to various reasons, including lack of employees at local level owing to the employee adjustment. The rural municipality will ensure the supply of required medicines and deployment of health workers to the health post in the coming days," he said. RSS
