Lalitpur, Jan. 27: Tourism entrepreneurs in the mountain districts of Manang, Mustang and Solukhumbu have taken up Trout fish farming.
With support from the High Hills Agro Business and Livelihood Improvement Project supported by the Asian Development Bank, the tourism entrepreneurs in the district have taken up fish farming also to add to their tourism business. "Fresh fish has become a good source of income for those running the tourism business," said the Project Director Bijaya Kant Jha.
Subsidiary projects of Trout fish farming is currently being implemented in 11 districts, with these three the latest ones. The project began six years ago in 10 high hill and mountain districts.
It has been providing support to commercialization of agriculture and livestock farming. The projects make investment to farm and farmers ranging from 20 to 50 per cent of the total cost. RSS
