Washington, Jan. 18: SpaceX CEO Elon Musk Saturday said India-US ties are “trending positive”, hosting a delegation of Indian business leaders at his Starbase facility in Texas. He highlighted his inclination to enhance trade partnership between India and the United States with a special focus on technology and space exploration, news agency PTI reported.

“Things are trending positive. I’m certainly in favour of lowering trade barriers to increase commerce between the  US and India,” he said at a meeting which was part of the India Global Forum’s (IGF) US launch, which aimed to strengthen bilateral collaboration between India and the US.

The meeting comes just days before the inauguration of Donald Trump as US President for a second term, with Musk proposed to join his top team as co-chair of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Musk added that lowering trade barriers would increase commerce between the US and India.

Further, he also praised India as an ancient and complex civilisation with significant contributions to global innovation.

Highlighting the importance of collaboration, IGF Founder Manoj Ladwa said: “This event underscores the growing importance of collaboration between India and global pioneers in shaping a sustainable and technology-driven future.”

The delegation also included prominent Indian business leaders Ritesh Agarwal of OYO, Kalyan Raman of Flipkart, and Aryaman Birla of Aditya Birla Group among others.-Agencies
