Kathmandu, July 11: In a significant step toward enhancing sports diplomacy and youth development, the Embassy of India in Kathmandu has facilitated a one-month professional cricket training program for three emerging Under-19 cricketers from Nepal under the Ambassador’s Cricket Fellowship for Nepali Youth, announced in June 2025.
The selected players—Naren Bhatta, Sahil Patel, and Puja Mahato—will undergo intensive training at the LB Shastri Cricket Shaala in Bhopal, India, from 15 July to 14 August 2025. The initiative is aimed at nurturing cricketing talent in Nepal while deepening India-Nepal ties through their mutual love for the sport.
Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, interacted with the players before their departure in the presence of the President of the Cricket Association of Nepal, Chatur Bahadur Chand. He extended his best wishes and encouraged the athletes to make the most of this opportunity.
The Embassy noted that the training is expected to significantly sharpen the players’ technical and professional skills, contributing meaningfully to Nepal’s aspirations in the international cricketing arena. The initiative also reflects a broader effort to foster people-to-people connections through meaningful youth engagement and sports collaboration.
