Kathmandu, Apr. 11: Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), Embassy of India, Kathmandu celebrated 72nd Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Foundation Day on 9th April 2022 at Hotel Marriott. The event was organized as part of the ongoing celebrations of INDIA@75 AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV with an aim to deepen the bonds of friendship among ICCR alumni.
The event was inaugurated by Namgya Khampa, Deputy Chief of Mission, in presence of noted politician Dr. Shashank Koirala, noted actress Manisha Koirala and prominent ICCR alumni from Nepal.
In her inaugural remarks, DCM Namgya Khampa emphasized that the ICCR, through scholarships and fellowships about studying in India, has been able to create a large pool of our well-wishers and that the INDIA ALUMNI PORTAL launched today by ICCR will go a long way in further strengthening India-Nepal friendship.
On the occasion, two distinguished alumni of ICCR from Nepal- Dr. Bhola Thapa, VC, Kathmandu University and Neelesh Pradhan, CEO, Nepal Clearing House- shared their experiences of study in India. Noted actress Manisha Koirala also shared her experiences of childhood and early education in India. A video compilation of experiences of alumni of ICCR from across the globe was also played.
A cultural programme was also performed by students of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC) during the event.
