Kathmandu, Apr. 1: Gold price in the domestic market continued its upward trend on Wednesday, rising by Rs 7,400 per tola and inching closer to the Rs 300,000 mark again.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association, fine gold is being traded at Rs 297,600 per tola, up from Rs 290,200 per tola on Tuesday.
The price of the yellow metal has been fluctuating in recent days but has largely maintained an upward momentum, with occasional corrections.
On Tuesday alone, gold had increased by Rs 6,700 per tola.
Gold was last recorded at Rs 302,300 per tola on Chaitra 3-a price close to the Rs 300,000 mark, though not an all-time high. It then declined to as low as Rs 273,900 per tola on Chaitra 10 before gradually regaining strength, despite minor dips along the way.
Meanwhile, silver price also moved up on Wednesday. The federation said silver increased by Rs 100 per tola to reach Rs 4,045 per tola, compared to Rs 3,945 per tola on Tuesday.
