Kathmandu, Apr. 13: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday slid 4.18 points to close at 2,833.60 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,837.77 points initially plunged to as low as 2,830.22 points in the first five minutes. The index jumped to the day’s high at 2,849.1 points in the next 47 minutes. However, the market went to a straight fall in the next moment and reached the day’s low at 2,827.93 points in the next one and a half hours. The market recovered around six points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.
Six out of the 13 groups were the gainers with hotels and tourism adding the largest of 51.69 points. Of the losers, life insurance shed 59.45 points, the largest of all.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also declined 1.49 points. Daily turnover declined to Rs 8.66 billion from Rs 8.99 billion.
Among the individual companies, 105 were the gainers and 153 were the losers. National Hydro Power Company Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 931.94 million.
Unique Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited with a decline of 3.60 percent in its market value was recorded as the highest loser. Four companies including Super Khudi Hydropower Limited, Suryakunda Hydro Electric Limited, Hotel Forest Inn Limited and Palpa Cement Industries Limited were the topmost gainers of 10 percent.
