Candidates commence nomination filing for Ilam-2 by-election

Kathmandu, Apr. 6: Nominations are being registered today for the by-election of members of the House of Representatives to be held on April 27 in Ilam-2 and Bajhang 1(1).

According to the Election Commission, the nomination registration time has been fixed at the Chief Electoral Officer's office today from 10 AM to 5 PM. Following the election schedule, after the registration of nominations, the nomination list will be published this evening. Complaints can be filed against candidates from 10 AM to 3 PM on Sunday.

The complaints will be examined after 3 PM on the same day and up to 5 PM on April 8. After the publication of the list of candidates on the evening of April 8, the time for returning the nominations has been given from 9 AM to 1 PM on April 9. On the same day, the final list of candidates will be published by 3 PM, and the election symbol will be given by 5 PM. Voting will be held on April 27 from 7 AM to 5 PM.

In Ilam, the by-election is about to be held after the death of the then MP Subash Chandra Nembang, while in Bajhang, the election is about to be held because Prithvi Bahadur Singh, who was elected from the Nepali Congress, died in an accident.

Suhang Nembang, son of Subash Chandra Nembang, is the candidate from UML, Dambar Bahadur Khadka from Nepali Congress, Milan Limbu from Rastriya Swatantra Party, Laxmi Gurung from Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and others are vying for the election from Ilam-2.

Similarly, Daman Bahadur Bhandari from UML and Abhishek Singh from Nepali Congress have prepared to register their candidature in Bajang. The Maoists who supported the UML in Ilam have not made any decision in Bajhang.
