Kathmandu, Aug. 18: Foreign Secretary of India Vikram Misri paid an official visit to Nepal from 17-18 August at the invitation of the Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai.
Foreign Secretary Misri called on the President Ramchandra Paudel, the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and the minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba. He conveyed to them greetings from the leadership in India and briefed them on the progress being made in various aspects of the mutually-benificial bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Indian Foreign Secretary handed over a formal invitation to Prime Minister Oli from the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit India on mutually dates.
The two Foreign Secretaris held wide-ranging discussions, reviewed the progress made in various bilateral initiatives and discussed oportunities for further collaboration including possible outcomes that could from a part of the agenda of PM Oli's forthcoming visit to India.
Misri also met the Chief ofArmy Staff General Ashok Raj Sigdel and handed over defence stores and equipment Light Strike vehicles (LSVs), critical care medical equipment and military animals to the Nepal Army.
During the various engagements, both sides noted with satisfaction the concrete progress in recent years in diverse areas of bilateral cooperation, including physical conectivity, defence & security and energy cooperation.
Foreign Secretay Misri also met other senior political leaders of Nepal.
