Kathmandu, Nov. 27: The Shree Pokharvindi Secondary School located in Rohini Rural Municipality-2, Bhatpurwa, Rupandehi District, celebrated the formal inauguration of its new school building.
Constructed with financial assistance amounting to Rs. 12.50 million from the Government of India under the 'Nepal-India Development Cooperation,' the event was graced by Vice President of Nepal Ram Sahaya Yadav. Prasanna Shrivastava, Chargé d'affaires, Embassy of India, Kathmandu, also attended the ceremony.
The double-storied school building, funded through a grant from the Government of India, stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts between the two nations, said Indian Embassy in Kathmandu. The project, identified as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), formerly known as Small Development Projects, was executed through the District Coordination Committee, Rupandehi.
In attendance were various dignitaries, including political representatives, government officials, social workers, school management representatives, teachers, parents, and students, who collectively celebrated this significant milestone in the school's history.
Vice President Yadav expressed gratitude for the invaluable assistance provided by the Government of India, acknowledging its pivotal role in the development of educational infrastructure in Nepal and various other sectors. He highlighted how the developmental partnership between the two countries has further strengthened the bonds of friendship.
Prasanna Shrivastava, Chargé d'affaires, Embassy of India, Kathmandu, emphasized the importance of the project within the broader context of the robust development partnership between India and Nepal. He reaffirmed the continued commitment of the Government of India to support Nepal's development priorities for the mutual benefit of both nations.
Established in 1959, Shree Pokharvindi Secondary School has been a beacon of education in the region, providing quality education up to the 10th standard. With a student body exceeding 600, of which approximately 55% are girls, the school has consistently achieved success in fostering a conducive learning environment. The new school building is poised to enhance the educational experience for generations to come.
