Kathmandu, Dec. 12: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has taken the step of filing an appeal in the Supreme Court, expressing profound dissatisfaction with the judgments handed down by the Special Court.

Narahari Ghimire, the spokesperson for the CIAA, revealed that the appeal was prompted by discontent with the outcomes of several cases related to allegations of bribery and corruption. These cases were presented by the commission before the Special Court on multiple occasions.

The particular case in question involved the acquittal of Deepak Bam, a mechanical engineer, and intermediary Nirak Bahadur Shahi. The Special Court cited insufficient substantiation of evidence from the case files as the basis for the acquittal.

CIAA strongly asserts that the Special Court failed to consider crucial witnesses and relevant parties, thereby compromising the fairness of the acquittal verdict for individuals accused of bribery. The Authority emphasized concerns that the court’s decision did not align with principles of fairness and omitted vital perspectives crucial to a comprehensive understanding of the cases at hand.
