Kathmandu, Sept. 25: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday bounced back with 49.18 points. However, the daily turnover slid below Rs 5 billion.
The secondary market gained by notable points after getting plunged by over 100 points in the past two days. In the intraday trading on Wednesday, the market opened at 2,470.39 points and plunged to the day’s low at 2,443.98 points in the first half an hour. The market, however, made an upward graph in the remaining trading hours, finally closing at 2,519.57 points.
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, added 7.91 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 4.81 billion from Rs 5.68 billion on Tuesday.
Among individual companies, 223 were recorded as gainers whereas 18 were the losers.
Except mutual funds, the remaining 12 groups were the gainers. Life insurance added the largest of 231.41 points to its index, while a total of five groups gained three-digit points.
Ngadi Group Power Ltd had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 156.41 million. Five companies including Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd, Nyadi Hydropower Limited, Unique Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, Sagarmatha Jalabidyut Company Limited and Three Star Hydropower Limited were recorded as the highest gainers. Himalayan Hydropower Limited lost the highest of 6.36 percent of its market value.
