Kathmandu, Dec. 18: Gold price climbed by Rs 700 per tola in the domestic market on Thursday, edging closer to the all-time high and once again crossing the Rs 260,000 per tola mark.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association, fine gold is being traded at Rs 260,400 per tola today. The price had earlier touched a historic high of Rs 260,700 per tola on Mangsir 29, the last day of the Nepali month of Mangsir, before retreating to Rs 259,000 per tola on Kartik 1. It rebounded to Rs 259,700 per tola on Wednesday (Kartik 2) and surged further on Thursday.
Meanwhile, silver prices continued their upward trajectory, setting a new record in the domestic market. Silver rose by Rs 25 per tola on Thursday to reach Rs 4,085 per tola, surpassing the previous record of Rs 4,055 per tola recorded on Wednesday, the federation said.
