New Delhi, Nov. 15: In India The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) registered a sweeping victory in the Bihar elections, with the results showing the alliance crossing the 200-mark in the state with 243 seats.
The results point to a decisive win for the NDA in Bihar, with the BJP emerging as the single largest party.
Meanwhile, the INDIA bloc has slipped far behind as the ruling alliance cements a dominant lead across the state.
Amid the high-stakes verdict, Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked the Bihar voters for giving a thumping victory to the NDA bloc.
“Victory of good governance has been achieved. Victory of development has been achieved. Victory of the spirit of public welfare has been achieved. Victory of social justice has been achieved. My deepest gratitude to the family members of Bihar, who have blessed the NDA with a historic and unprecedented victory in the 2025 assembly elections,” he said in an X post.
PM Modi will address BJP workers this evening at the party’s office in the national capital.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, meanwhile, cautioned officials to ensure a fair process, saying, “Our party workers are alert and present at the counting centres. If any official tries to repeat the mistakes of 2020, crosses their limits, or acts on someone’s directions with malicious intent, the public will give a strong response…”
Voting for the Bihar Assembly elections was held in two phases on November 6 and 11 across all 243 constituencies. According to the Election Commission, the state has 7.42 crore registered voters, including 3.92 crore men and 3.5 crore women.
Turnout remained strong, with 65.08% polling recorded in the first phase and 68.76% in the second. The opening phase, covering 121 seats across 18 districts, saw the highest-ever turnout in Bihar’s electoral history at 64.66%, marking a significant rise from previous elections.
Exit polls released on November 12 have indicated a clear advantage for the ruling NDA, projecting a comfortable lead over the Mahagathbandhan.-Agencies
