Kathmandu, July 21: Nepal and India signed separate Memorandam of Understanding (MoUs) for the implementation of five High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal in the education and health sectors.
According to a press statement issued by the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, these projects, which will be carried out under India’s grant assistance, will cost an estimated Rs 390 million.
The MoUs were signed in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAGA), Embassy of India and respective implementing agencies.
According to the statement, the five projects include construction of a school building each in Parsa, Dhanusha, Bara and Achham, and a five-bed hospital building in Nason Rural Municipality of Manang.
These projects will be implemented by the concerned municipal bodies.
“The construction of these facilities will help provide better education and health facilities to the people in Nepal,” the embassy added in the statement.
Since 2003, India has implemented 579 HICDPs across all seven provinces of Nepal, of which 496 projects have been completed. These projects range from sectors like health, education, drinking water, sanitation, connectivity and public infrastructure.
