NEPSE nosedives 27.59 points as 220 companies lose their market charm

Kathmandu, Feb. 22: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday nosedived 27.59 points to close at 2,614.55 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,642.15 points and spiked to the day’s high at 2,642.31 points in the first four minutes. The market however went downhill to reach the day’s low at 2,611.14 points in the last 54 minutes. The market went through nominal fluctuations in the remaining period and recovered around three points before it closed for the day.

All the groups were the losers in the intraday trading. The trading index plunged by the largest of 135.29 points.

The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies decreased 3.27 points. The daily turnover stood at Rs 6.69 billion, down from Rs 8.36 billion. 

Among the individual companies, only 34 were gainers while 220 were recorded as losers. Ankhu Khola Jalvidhyut Company had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 634.24 million.

Buddha Bhumi Nepal Hydropower Company with a decline of 8.92 percent was the topmost loser. Salapa Bikas Bank Limited gained the highest of 10 percent in its market value.
