Kathmandu, Dec. 22: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday plunged 13.88 points to close at 2,595.10 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,595.10 points and marginally increased by two points in the first one minute before declining sharply by 17 points in the next 12 minutes. Within the next about an hour, the index fluctuated nominally before reaching the day’s low at 2,575.14 points. The market gradually inclined to recover around six points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.
Only trading added 21.64 points. Of the 12 losers, life insurance declined 132.39 points, the largest of all.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies decreased 2.25 points. The daily turnover declined heavily to Rs 3.51 billion from Rs 4.52 billion.
Among the individual companies, 54 were gainers while 200 were recorded as losers. Lumbini Bikas Bank Ltd had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 103.08 million.
Manushi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the topmost loser of 6.84 percent (110 points). SY Panel Nepal Limited gained the highest of 9.99 percent.
