Kathmandu, Sept. 9: The Ministry of External Affairs of India said it is closely monitoring developments in Nepal following widespread protests by Gen Z groups against corruption, which have resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries.
In its statement, India expressed being deeply saddened by the loss of young lives and extended condolences to the families of the deceased while wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.
"As a close friend and neighbour, we hope that all concerned will exercise restraint and address any issues through peaceful means and dialogue," the ministry added.
The Indian government also noted that curfews have been imposed in Kathmandu and several other cities and advised Indian nationals in Nepal to exercise caution and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
The statement reflects growing concern in New Delhi as the protests have intensified across Kathmandu Valley, Biratnagar, Hetauda, and other major urban centers, prompting curfews and heightened security measures.
