Kathmandu, Aug. 16: Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday for a four-day visit to Nepal at the formal invitation of Chief of the Staff of Nepali Army (NA) Ashok Raj Sigdel.
According to Nepali Army Spokesperson Brigadier General Rajaram Basnet Seth,s visit has to main objectives: receiving the honorary rank of General of Nepal Army and strengthening military relations between Nepal and India.
President Ramchandra Paudel will confer the honorary rank on General Seth during a special ceremony at Sheetal Niwas on Monday.
Seth will also hold bilateral talks with General Sigdel at the Nepali Army Headquarters on Monday. He is scheduled to return to India on Wednesday.
General Seth, who assumed command of the Indian Army on June 30, 2026, has chosen Nepal as his first foreign destination since taking office. His visit is the highest-level visit by an Indian official since Balendra Shah became Prime Minister.
