Kathmandu, July 28: Nepal’s stock market declined for a second consecutive trading session on Tuesday, with the benchmark NEPSE index falling 4.64 points to close at 2,696.67.
Shares of companies in the finance, hotels and tourism, hydropower and trading sectors posted gains, while all other sub-indices ended lower. The “Others” sub-index recorded the steepest decline, slipping 0.80 percent.
Share prices of 166 listed companies fell during the session. Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower Company was the biggest loser, with its share price dropping 6.07 percent.
Market turnover also declined, with total transactions amounting to Rs 4.42 billion, down from Rs 6.08 billion recorded on Monday.
Central Finance led trading by turnover, with shares worth Rs 271.4 million changing hands. It was followed by Ridi Power, which recorded transactions worth Rs 212.1 million, and Solu Hydropower, with Rs 190 million in traded shares.
Meanwhile, investors in 98 listed companies posted gains. Everest Color hit the daily upper trading limit, making it the session’s top gainer.
