Kathmandu, May 5: The Indian Embassy in Nepal organized a vibrant cultural evening and alumni meet to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) on the embassy premises on Saturday.
In a social media post, the embassy said Nepal’s former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav graced the event as the Chief Guest. “The event celebrated the deep cultural bonds between India and Nepal through music and dance performances by ICCR students and alumni,” the embassy added.
Dr Yadav, an ICCR scholar himself, praised the historical and civilizational ties between the two nations. On the occasion, he planted a sapling of Taki to symbolize enduring friendship between Nepal and India.
On the occasion, ICCR alumni shared inspiring stories of how the council shaped their careers.
In his address, Ambassador of India to Nepal Navin Srivastava talked about ICCR’s crucial role in fostering cultural and people-to-people connections between the two countries. He also reaffirmed the embassy’s commitment to strengthening India-Nepal ties.
