Kathmandu, Jan. 26: The Embassy of India celebrated 73rd Republic Day of India in its premises in Kathmandu observing health safety protocols against COVID-19. Indian ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra hoisted the national flag of India and read out the message of Indian President Ramnath Kovind on the occasion.
Amid the various programme organized by the Indian diplomatic mission in Nepal, Kwatra felicitated the war veterans' widows and the close kin of deceased soldiers by disbursing their dues over Rs 60 million.
According to the press statement released by the Indian embassy in Nepal, today’s celebration was part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, an initiative of the government of India to celebrate 75 years of India’s independence and remarkable achievements by Indians in all spheres of human endeavors.
Many events will be organized throughout the year until August 2023 as part of the celebration, the press statement read. The Embassy also unveiled its plan to inaugurate 75 development projects implemented with India’s assistance across all seven provinces and 77 districts of Nepal.
The Embassy also announced that it will be gifting 75 ambulances and school buses to various organizations and local authorities across Nepal to mark India’s 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Nepal.
