Rome, May 20: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Italian counterpart, Giorgia Meloni, shortly after he landed in Rome on Tuesday. After dinner together, they visited the iconic Colosseum, where they engaged in deep conversation on varied subjects. The photos from this visit have now taken over the internet.
Taking to X, Modi shared a few snaps from their Colosseum visit. “Upon landing in Rome, had the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Meloni over dinner followed by a visit to the iconic Colosseum,” Modi wrote on X.
“We exchanged perspectives on a wide range of subjects. Looking forward to our talks today, where we will continue the conversation on how to boost the India-Italy friendship,” he added.
As Modi arrived in Rome in the last leg of his five-nation tour, Meloni posted a photo with him with a welcome note on X: “Welcome to Rome, my friend!”
The two leaders are scheduled to hold bilateral talks later in the day.
The Indian diaspora in Italy welcomed Modi, who then interacted with the Indian community and enjoyed cultural performances at his hotel.
The Indian Prime Minister also signed an autograph for a child who gifted him a portrait.-Agencies
