Kathmandu, Apr. 23: The foundation stone for the construction of Shree Janata Secondary School building in Gauradaha Municipality-1, Jhapa district, was jointly laid on Thursday by Chief Minister of Koshi Province Hikmat Kumar Karki, Counsellor at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu Gitanjali Brandon, and Mayor of Gauradaha Municipality Chhatrapati Subedi.
The school building is being constructed with financial assistance from the Government of India amounting to approximately Rs 58 million. The project falls under the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) framework and will be implemented through Gauradaha Municipality in Jhapa.
The Chief Minister and other stakeholders appreciated the developmental support provided by the Government of India and expressed confidence that the new infrastructure would enhance the learning environment for students and educators in Gauradaha Municipality.
India and Nepal, as close neighbours, continue to engage in wide-ranging and multi-sectoral cooperation. The implementation of HICDPs reflects India’s continued support in strengthening Nepal’s efforts towards growth and development, while also contributing to infrastructure development in priority sectors.
