Rautahat, Sept. 11: Indian police have arrested 13 inmates who escaped from Gaur Prison in Rautahat on Tuesday night.
According to jail authorities, the escapees were captured by India’s Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and police while attempting to cross the border.
Those arrested include Jitendra Giri, 27, of Gaur Municipality-4; Ganesh Sah, 30, of Garuda Municipality-5; Santosh Ram, 24, of Samanpur-1; Randhir Yadav, 23, of Garuda Municipality-5; Bibek Mishra, 28, of Gaur Municipality-5; Rajan Sah Sonar, 25, of Auraiya-2; Ajay Yadav, 24, of Chhatauna-4; Rajesh Patel, 17, of Gaur-4; and Mohan Sah, 43, of Dewahi Gounahi-5.
Similarly, four of the arrested fugitives are Indian nationals: Monu Jaiswal, 22, of Basbariya in Ghodasahan, East Champaran; Rakesh Kumar, 23, of Mahuai-7 in Ghodasahan; Munif Kumar Yadav, 19, of Dipahi-2 in the Chiraiya police area; and Sudhir Kumar Mahato, 28, of Madapa Sirpal in Majorgunj, Sitamarhi.
Bairgania Police Station Chief Umashankar Rajak said that one of the escapees, Bibek Mishra, is also wanted in a murder case in Bairgania, India. He has been sent to judicial custody in Sitamarhi, while the remaining twelve inmates are in Indian police custody.
Indian officials stated that further legal action will proceed in coordination with their Nepali counterparts.
