Kathmandu, July 29: Bahadur Singh Lama, the newly appointed chief minister (CM) of Bagmati Province, will seek a vote of confidence on July 30. CM Lama has submitted a letter to the Provincial Assembly Secretariat in Hetauda requesting the vote of confidence on that date.
As per the UML's guidelines, Lama, who was appointed as Chief Minister on July 23 from the Nepali Congress, is required to secure a vote of confidence from the members of the provincial assembly within 30 days.
According to the registered letter, Province Assembly Speaker Bhuwan Kumar Pathak has scheduled a parliamentary meeting at 3 PM on July 30. Chief Minister Lama will seek the vote of confidence in accordance with Article 168(4) of the Constitution of Nepal and Article 143 (1) of the Province Assembly Regulations, 2074 BS.
CM Lama has the support of 64 provincial assembly members, including 27 from UML and 37 from the Nepali Congress. Taking over the leadership from the Nepali Congress for the first time, Lama has completed forming his 14-member council of ministers as of Saturday.
