Kathmandu, Aug. 20: Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Chetnarayan Acharya has secured the vote of confidence today.
Acharya who was appointed as the Chief Minister on July 22 secured two thirds majority of votes of confidence on Tuesday.
Seventy lawmakers voted in favor of the motion while 11 voted against it, Speaker Tularam Gharti Magar announced.
In the 87-member Province Assembly of Lumbini Province, 44 are required to secure the vote of confidence.
Acharya was the UML Deputy Parliamentary Party leader three days before his appointment as the Chief Minister.
Acharya took the vote of confidence in line with the existing rule that a chief minister has to take the vote of confidene within 30 days of the appointment to the post.
