NEPSE inches up by 3.35 points, daily turnover surges to Rs 7.84 billion

Kathmandu, Apr. 3: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday increased slightly by 3.35 points to close at 2,703.39 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,700.04 points and increased gradually to reach day’s high at 2,732.49 points in the first one and half hours. The index remained almost stable for the next one hour. However, the market shed 27 points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

Of the four gaining groups, non-life insurance added 72.49 points, followed by ‘others,’ banking and hydropower respectively. Among the nine losers, the life insurance index declined by the largest of 90.20 points.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, increased by 2.30 points. Daily turnover amount inclined to Rs 7.84 billion from Rs 5.44 billion on Wednesday.

Among the individual companies, 93 were gainers while 151 were registered as losers. Himalayan Reinsurance Limited had the biggest turnover of Rs 723.23 million.

With an addition of 9.99 percent in its market value, Green Ventures Limited was recorded as the biggest gainer. Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost 7.85 percent of its market price, the largest of all.
